When your 18 and looks like Ciara the world will wait at your feets, and when it happens that you decide that music is
what you want to do it is eventual that you will be compared to woman like Beyonce (which btw is not much older then
ciara), and you will have to prove that your more then looks, cause your talent could easily be over looked. With her
debut CD Goodies Ciara has me almost convinced.
The album delivers much more then her first single in what might be called Crunk-n-b, blending crunk with r & b. The
South and Atlanta has been dominating the charts lately and now we get the first hot woman out of Atalanta, Ciara the
18 year old Jazze Pha protégé may lack a little experience as a song writer still, but she makes it all up with her
performance.
Goodies catches on already at the first track (which also happens to be the title track) with a weird elctronica pad,
and cool hip hop rhythm, combined with a bold vocal productions which technique at time reminds me more of operetta
then either r & b or crunk, which is a surprise since it's produced by the self proclaimed king of crunk, Lil Jon.
Jaze Pha continues on the same track with much of the rest of the album which he produced.
I'm sure many teenage girls can relate to many of the text, for the rest of us we'll just enjoy the great vocal
performances is it incredible catchy beats and hook-lines. Such as Oh feat. Ludacris and Next to you feat. R. Kelly.
It's not almost until the end track (excluding the bonus track) the album breaks style and boast up a standard r & B
slash slow ballade songs with “and I”, and “The Title” (great vocal performance that really soars).
Ciara delivers an album packed with a few instant catchy tunes that you won't be able to resist nodding your head to
or shaking your whatever you shake, the rest of the Goodies will grow on you as you listen – don't expect Ciara to be
gone any time soon, she do got the goodies and more and I predict both her and this debute album will whitstand the
test of time...
Highlights: The Title, Oh, Lookin At You, 1,2 Step (ft. Missy), Ooh Baby.
(One final note: this is for the art director and not for the artist: hey, I think I speak for more then myself when
I say we are getting pretty bored by mini-posters printed on the cd sleeve. I mean what's the point.. at least if
there's gonna be a poster, print it as a standalone so one could hang it on the wall)
