Congratulation, America on the highest voter participation in history.

Whoever you voted for you should pat yourself on the shoulder and say good work because this election has been historic. No other time in history has so many voters turned up to vote – now you should try and keep up this involvement in decision making.

With just a bit over half voting for Bush he should note that almost half of the American population strongly or somewhat disagree or disapprove of him and his administrations performance and political point of view.

Now though his speech earlier today was moving talking about uniting and pulling together it’s hard to believe that is going to happen, that exactly what he said when he one the last election before he started moving further right.

So why did he win?
Bush and his team played their cards exceptionally well, it’s was a struck of public relation brilliance what the campaign achieved. First of all it’s fair to say that his opponent is not the most charismatic person either which of course helped. Bush made the war a important factor and the fear of terror, the fear of how the other guy would handle it. But more so the ingenious here might have been to bring abortion and gay marriage into the equation.

They also effectively calculated which states they had to win and where they needed to put most effort, again campaign brilliance.

Bush was about the image of the American and American values. He has portrait himself as Every Joe’s man, and a strong man with principal. This while early polls showed people felt they didn’t know much about Kerry as a person.

Then he kept repeating the same things over and over again in a simple manner. So you think that doesn’t work? Hey, repeat the chorus of some radio hits. See my point?
