Most anticipated and long awaited so why do I feel so let down? It’s through when you have expectation and waits for something for a long time you’re very likely to be disappointed, but I don’t think that’s all there is to it. There’s just so many thing that makes this album just average, and Mef ain’t average.

My first impression after spinning the record was that Jonny Blaze, just aint blazing. He is fully satisfied, tired, and bored. Half of the songs feels half-hearted and some even dated. So I gave it a second spin and a third spin and a forth spin. Same thing either someone rushed the album or someone just said okay we gotta put this thing out its long over due.

Don’t get me wrong I’m no hater, I got nothing but love for the entire wu-tang clan including Meth, but this just ain’t what one would expect from Iron Lung aka Mef aka Meth, aka Johny Storm. That is not to say the album dosen’t have it’s moments - the first single that came out “What’s Happenin’” (feat. Busta Rhymes) was slammin fresh and nutured my expectation. But that’s about the only hot song on the prequel. It also has a potential hit in “Tease”, a funny song with a great hook.

Almost at the end comes “Afterparty” with Ghostface and there you go it feels like Meth woke up and are having fun again. My advices unless you are a die hard fan buy the album and expect to skip through those two songs. (hey, it’s still cheaper then two singles). No, if it’s wu you want. Check: Raekwon; The Missing Watch, Ghostface; The Pretty Toney Album, and RZA; Birth Of a Prince.

Hooking up with The Hitmen at daddy’s house, sure didn’t do much good to Meth, I can see the clever and tounge-in-cheek idea behind recycling part of ones own material, which he does a lot on the album both in verses and melodies, but it doesn’t quite work as I imagine the intention was.

Highlights: What’s Happenin (ft. Busta), We Some Dogs (ft. Redman and Snoop Dogg), and Tease (ft. Chinky).
Producers: No ID, Rockwilder, Q, The Hitmen, and more.
Released on: Def Jam
