New York’s finest is back at it again with a new album on a new label fresher then ever. Ghostface trademark style is present on the new album – a feel of a smoke filled jazz club. Will this year be when Wu reclaim the throne? I dunno, I do know that there has been a many strong Wu album released the last past half year. Including RZA, Raekwon, and just out now Meth’s long awaited album.

“Biscuits” sets the mode for “The Pretty Toney Album” where Ghostface  spits fiercely over short sample loops of horns, strings and live drum-cuts. Story-telling and a style like no others, and its seems like his hungry again – its sounds not so much like he just rhyming for the sake of rhyming, but actually really has something on his chest. You can almost hear the sable rattle on some if the verses. If you wonder about how hungry and angry listen to “Metal Lungies”

What is most notable is that the whole album is more up-tempo then we usually use to from Ghostface, just check the potentially smash-hit track – “save me dear”, or “Run” feat. Jadakiss. Speaking of guest appearances. Except for a two tracks produced by RZA there is no other wu-tang artist, but there is guest appearances by newcomer Jackie-o, Styles P, and Sheek Louch as well as Missy Elliot, Musiq and & K. Fox.

Also check goose-skin-raising ghetto hymn, “Holla”. Of the more funny part check the add in the cover for Theodore Unit and ghost flipin-the-finger when pointing at the garment. Seems like he got another nickname.  And you almost get religious when you come to the last track, “Love”.

Ghostface is a living legacy to the true art of hip-hop. By this album. It’s one of those who comes from where it should, the heart.
