Prince: Musicology
POSTED 01 - MAY - 2003 ON NEVARANTA.COM

A musical genius he might be, but nerveless he almost vanished from the searchlight for almost a decade this
since much of his media staying powered had to do with controversy, oppose to his female counterpart from the
same area - in Prince's case it took a little while longer to re-invent himself.
I won't go as far as saying that this is the greatest album he made since purple rain, but it is good and he's on
the right track. It's not innovative. It is what emancipation should have been. Though sexy MF and the other gold
experience songs has more edge this one feels more complete, when the tracks are funky their really funky so much
that we mind less the weaker tracks on the record.
Musicology delivers almost the best of Prince. It has a lot of that 70s funk to it with a dash of soul, and dash of
old pop prince from his heydays. Though some of the songs somewhat feels a bit dated I love this album and can only
wish we'll see another one from him even edgier. Someone hire him as producer please. Rap cats out there get down with
one of those who paved way for the black entertainment business today.
To conclude this is an album that will please his old fans as well as introduce this living musical legend to a new
audience. Verdict 8/10
